The SouthSide Film Festival and the SouthSide Film Institute are both located in Bethlehem, PA, USA
The SouthSide Film Institute (SSFI) is a volunteer-run non-profit organization formed in the strong business and arts community of South Bethlehem. The SSFI caters to the needs of all filmmakers in the Lehigh Valley. The Institute was officially incorporated as a Pennsylvania not-for-profit organization with 501c(3) status in December, 2003. The SouthSide Film Festival (SSFF) premiered in June 2004, with great success, screening 50 films, by 35 filmmakers, from as far as India, the Netherlands, California, Utah, Texas, and all over the East Coast. Since then our films have stretched to almost every filmmaking corner of the world.
Our mission is to be the coordinators and facilitators in this community effort of creating a centralized informational and networking HUB for filmmakers in the Lehigh Valley and the surrounding areas.
Building the Film Office and the Institute will take time to ensure quality and efficiency. This is a volunteer effort, so all assistance is welcome!
SSFI Objectives:
SSFI Goals: The SouthSide Film Institute (SSFI) was formed to aid ongoing efforts to network filmmakers by promoting awareness of resources, interest, opportunity and support in the Lehigh Valley.
Our goal is to establish communications between all levels of interest and involvement in the cinematic arts. We will provide educational seminars, workshops and opportunities to screen works both publicly and for private critical evaluation. In addition, we will help filmmakers find the locations, resources, and support for their filmmaking efforts.
The foundations of this non-profit organization are rooted in a strong sense of community, integrity and dedication to the artistic meaning of film. The SSFI intends to become the location for filmmakers to turn to for help in finding people, answers, resources and opportunities to transport their ideas into realities on the screen.
Philosophy: We believe that movie making is, first and foremost, a visual art form of storytelling from the mind and creativity of the filmmaker.
