About the film: My brother Alik who was much older , and I played together in Kiev. He is mobilized to fight the invading German army. My parents and I stayed behind. My brother writes postcards which stop coming during the German occupation. My parents and I are forced to leave Kiev. By luck we escape a concentration camp. This film is the second short film based on my experiences as a child. The first was the very successful Flashbacks From my Past: “Starry Night”

About the director: Irra was born in Russia and is currently a naturalized US citizen living in New York City where she graduated from the Parsons School of Design. She is an instructor of animation at the School of Visual Arts. Her works have screened at numerous galleries including the Whitney Museum and MoMA; and at festivals including Hiroshima Film Festival, Annecy Festival, KROK Festival – Russia and Ukraine, Leipzig Animadoc, London, Lithuania, Zagreb along with numerous US Festivals.
